Longkang Siham @ Melaka
Whenever I travel, I always want to
do 2 things, number 1, stay an in awesome located hotel and number 2 and this
is the priority EAT!!
Malacca is a state which is just 2 hours’
drive away from Kuala Lumpur. Steep in tradition and local history, this city
is the founding state on Malaysia. The history of Malaya is started with the
Parameswara who was resting under a tree and saw of the mouse deer (kancil)
kicking one of his hunting dog. Because of this , he ask his servant, what is
the tree he was resting under and then volar, Melaka came into existence well,
that is one of them whereby the other was by foreign traders who visited there
and using name like malakat malakat and hence Melaka.
Well whatever stories and history
you want to know and hear about, they is no denying is that Malacca is one
those city in the world that is protected by UNESCO as heritage city and steep
into riches of tradition and culture, is a city that first thing first is
FOOD!!!!
So I stay in a very nice 3 star
hotel located in the city area and one the place that you would want to go for
food is this place called Longkang Siham. The English meaning of this place is
cockles drain. Located at the back roads in between Jalan Bendahara and Jalan
Bunga Raya, Longkang Siham is a place where everyone weather rich or poor and
as well coming from all parts of the world will go and eat.
Squatting down with small stools
and as well normal high tables, this place serve simple shellfish and as well
other seafood which you need to eat a lot anti histamine after this. We had so
much of food and I think while I am writing this, the amount of itchiness on my
body is skyrocketing. The best thing is that the food here is actually cook with
a simple salted water blanch and bath whichever you call, and the best of all
is that is serve with the chili that is serve alongside. It has peanuts, chili,
and sweet sauce and lime juice. So once
have the shellfish, which you dig out you just dunk it into it, and you eat it
and oh la la.
With 2 shops operating here this is
the place that’s there is no doubt you must come whenever you’re in Malacca. Good
food and as well simple and cheap this is the place! With snails, lala, cockles
to sotong kangkung and fishball salad, choice here might be low but the price
and the simple fast face service will be enough for you to be filled to full of
your stomach. Price ranges from RM2 for a plate of cockles to RM15 for a big
plate of Sotong Kangkung you can eat until your heart drop.
So do drop by and try it out for
yourself, if you ask me which to go for, I would recommend the inside one known
as Capitol if you’re trying for the first time, but if you’re scare, you can
also go for the Tong Bee stall if you’re looking for like claypot style as well
as your normal ones.
